Why are we sending money to Pakistan?

In fact, why the hell is our government sending money anywhere?According to ABC News our government has approved $1.6 Billion dollars in economic aid to Pakistan. Some of this money is slated to help their military fight insurgents inside their own country.

Meanwhile, last month the annual pay raise for OUR armed services members was cut from 1.8% to 1.0%   “Citing serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare of the nation”

 Seriously?

Our Armed Services members are already paid a pittance!

Many of our military folks make so little that they actually qualify for food stamps.

They risk their lives for our freedom, with some of them paying the ultimate price.

How about some concern for the serious economic conditions effecting the general welfare of our armed services folks?

Why does the current administration have so much disdain for the military?

I guess I would be considered an isolationist for saying this, but shouldn’t we take care of our own people before we go throwing money at a problem that is never going to go away,  in the hopes that it will help us keep China under control?

The only way to keep China under control is to get our own DEBT under control!

As far as Pakistan goes, those people hate us.  They harbored Bin Laden, even when they knew we were looking for him and why.           Then they got pissed because we went in and got him!

How about we let them solve their own problems and keep taxpayer dollars at home where they’re needed most?

That’s what’s on my mind today.

Have a great week!

2 Cool Tips!

As much as we are concerned about America, we are just as concerned for Americans. There are a couple of things I would like to mention just for the safety/security potential. Even if you’ve already heard these things & they sound simple, I hope you find doing them will be even more simple.

1. Your new best friend is your car alarm! That little button on your key chain can go far if you find yourself in danger. Keep your finger on it in a dark parking lot…footsteps closing in?…Set it off! Someone trying to car jack you? Set it off! In your home at night and someone is breaking in? Set it off! Many more uses, too! This little contraption is GOLDEN!

2. Now that we’ll be speeding into shopping season, keep your eye on EVERY receipt when paying with a bank or credit card! Cashiers at several different retailers have become pretty tricky in requesting cash back on YOUR transaction & slipping the money in their very greedy little pockets. Unless you glance at your receipt, you probably won’t notice because they tend to stick close to the $20 range. If you do notice, they’ll tell you it was a machine glitch (yeah, in their favor)! Get a supervisor, file a complaint. If they can’t earn the American Dream, they damn well have no right to steal yours!!!

Be safe out there and take care of each other…   Jeni

Source Code Shenanigans

If there weren’t many other good reasons to hate ObamaCare aka the Affordable Care Act, here’s one more.

This National Review article by Andrew Johnson reports that HIDDEN in the source code on the “Terms and Conditions” page there is a warning stating that users should have “no reasonable expectation of privacy”

This is what the hidden statement says:

You have no reasonable expectation of privacy regarding any communication or data transiting or stored on this information system.  At any time, and for any lawful Government purpose, the government may monitor, intercept, and search and seize any communication or data transiting or stored on this information system.  Any communication or data transiting or stored on this information system may be disclosed or used for any lawful Government purpose.

Seriously?

I am supposed to input all of my personal information including some of my medical history, then sign off on that?

Oh HELL no!

I am not naïve enough to think that the government doesn’t know anything about me.

I am well aware of the NSA and Information gathering efforts by other agencies.

But, I’m sure not going to GIVE them anything!

For those of you who are unclear as to how that statement could be hidden on a public web page, here’s a little primer:

A web page is basically a document written in code that tells your computer how to display the content on the page when you click on the link.

Not all of the coded information is viewable to the end user because it’s just stuff the computer needs to know in order to load the page correctly.

Like which font to use, or the background color. The basic structure is like this:

BEGINNING

HEAD

BODY

END

The BEGINNING and HEAD is where most of the info your computer needs to load the page correctly resides.

The BODY is where the content you see resides

There are special tags which can make things like text invisible to the end user in the BODY

This is done mostly so the folks who write the code can add their copyright info or with instructions to other coders for implementation.

I have written a little page to illustrate better how it works

EXAMPLE PAGE

What is important for you to know in the long run is that whether the entire page is visible to you or not it is a LEGAL DOCUMENT, which is Legal and Binding the second you click that “I Accept” Button.

Personally, I am not going to sign up for this thing.

I am not telling you not to, but think about it.

Federal Potty Shutdown Silliness

If the Shutdown by the Feds got any more ridiculous, I’m not sure I could take it!

I was perusing our little local paper The Wickenburg Sun and right there on the front page was MORE Shutdown Silliness!

A local couple took the 4-Wheel trail up to the base of Vulture Peak  and stopped to use the restroom.

They found a notice on the door saying that it was closed due to the Shutdown.

Brenda Hershkowitz noted that “We thought it was pretty funny that the federal government shut down our one little potty…”

I think it’s pretty silly.

Imagine the conversation the guy who actually had to go up there with that sign had with his boss.

Just my thought for the day
